ACTN4 Biomarker Tissue Service

Specialty staining of paraffin embedded tissue via immunohistochemistry (IHC) and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH).

Abnova Diagnostics provides an ISO15189 medical laboratory service to physicians and clinical researchers requiring formalin fixed, paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue-based, biomarker testing via immunohistochemistry (IHC) and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). Our capability is supported by Abnova’s ISO13485 facility, ASR (analyte specific reagent) and GMP certified bioreagents of monoclonal antibodies and FISH probes for protein biomarker staining and gene analysis.

ACTN4 is an actin binding protein related to cell motility, invasion growth, and cancer metastasis. Overexpression of ACTN4 protein and gene amplification of ACTN4 is related to lung, ovarian, and pancreatic cancers prognosis, chemoresistance, and invasion1-3. ACTN4 monoclonal antibody IHC staining and FISH probe hybridization assist pathologists and clinical researchers with ACTN4 statistical significance and clinical relevance for disease and treatment management.

Specimen Requirement

  • Human tissue sections: 3 unstained, positively-charged sequential sections from 10% formalin fixed, paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue blocks. Preferred tissue fixation is 6-48 hours. Recommended tissue section thickness is 4-6 microns. Tissue sections must be assayed within 6 weeks of preparation.
  • Shipment: tissue sections are kept at room temperature throughout transportation.

Analytical Methods

  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
  • Fluorescence in situ Hybridization (FISH)

An interpretative report including data and images will be provided, for example:

  • ACTN4 lung cancer protein expression: cell membrane and cytoplasm of cancer cells spreading along the alveolar septum and infiltrating into fibrotic stroma.
  • ACTN4 lung cancer gene amplification: copy number ≧ 2.0 fold of ACTN4 probe (red) to chromosome 19 centromere probe (green) hybridization on 20 cells.
